Underwear model Miguel Ángel knows where to have a good time in Medellín
So, what was he wearing and what does he recommend?
Miguel Ángel is a man in the know. He works in advertising, developing brands and helping them define their communicative and visual style. He’s also a professional dancer and an event manager in the tourism sector. Oh, and he’s an underwear model. Needless to say, Miguel has his thumb on Medellín‘s nightlife.
During a recent trip, he took time out of his busy schedule to share his knowledge exclusively with GayCities.
While we cruised Cartagena Bay on an outing he organized on behalf of Out In Colombia, Miguel answered a few questions about where to go and who to see in Colombia’s lush, cool city. And, of course, his favorite underwear brand.

GAYCITIES: When you go out with your friends, where do you bar hop, and in what order?
MIGUEL: When I want to go out and have fun with my friends at night, we prefer the options located in El Poblado. We start with some good drinks at Bar Chiquita, where we can enjoy the local drag scene. Later, we go to Club Oráculo, which has three different settings: one that combines pop and urban music, another that offers more electronic music like techno and house, and finally, the crossover setting where we can dance salsa, merengue, bachata, and listen to hits from Latin pop divas.
Which one is your favorite?
I’ll say Chiquita, of course, because of the diversity of the people there, and they’ve got good drag shows.
Who is the best drag queen in the city?
My favorite is Karah I Doll. She is a great, great, great showgirl. I like her outfits and her look, and her lipsynchs are unbelievable.
What’s the best part about the nightlife in Medellín?
Having fun with so many kinds of people from around the world. Everyone is there.
Which hotel do you suggest for out-of-town friends?
Personally, I like the Click Clack Hotel and the Landmark Hotel. They are relatively new places with pleasant, modern, and comfortable spaces. Additionally, I find their decor and architectural concept remarkable.
What is your favorite food and where do you get it in Medellín?
Speaking of local food, there are a couple of options I really like. Mamasita, located in El Poblado, offers a great variety of typical Colombian food in a comfortable, spacious setting with good music, and La Matriarca, also in El Poblado.
What’s your favorite brand of underwear?
My favorite is Pump. They’re the best. It’s a brand I had the opportunity to work with as a model. I love their excellent quality and variety of designs. You can see their different fits on various types of people, and for me, versatility in a brand is something to be applauded.
What kind are you wearing now?
Now? Clever briefs.
