The NCAA women’s college basketball tournament starts this week and there are several storylines for LGBTQ fans to follow, including love.

There are four prominent out LGBTQ players, including one playing for the defending champions, who are in relationships with other athletes, including three other basketball players and a track and field star.

Azzi Fudd, guard, Connecticut

Fudd is the top player on an undefeated (34-0) Huskies team looking for its second straight national title. Considered the likely top pick in the next WNBA draft, Fudd is dating former UConn teammate Paige Bueckers, now a star for the WNBA’s Dallas Wings.

The women had been teasing their relationship until they confirmed it in a TikTok video posted by WAGTalk at last summer’s WNBA All-Star Game.

How well do you know your D1 girlfriend? Bueckers was asked in the video, followed by a series of questions and ending with this exchange:

WAGTalk: “What does her phone case say on it?”

Bueckers: “It says: ‘Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend.’”

WAGTalk: “Girlfriend reveal, it’s …”

Bueckers: “Azzi Fudd.”

As UConn advances in the tourney, expect to see Bueckers attendance cheering on her girlfriend and former team.

Olivia Miles, guard, TCU

The 5-10 Miles is the point guard on the 29-5 Horned Frogs, the No. 3 seed in the West Regional. A transfer from Notre Dame, Miles is hoping to advance past the Sweet 16 for the first time in her career.

Miles is the girlfriend of the WNBA’s Maddy Westbeld, her former Notre Dame teammate, with the pair hard-launching their relationship last summer. Their cat, Bean, has his own Instagram account.

Rori Harmon, guard, Texas

Harmon is a key player for the Longhorns (31-3), who earned a No. 1 seed and are looking for their first national title since 1986. “We want to be the last one standing,” she said.

She is in a relationship with former Texas teammate Shaylee Gonzales, who now plays overseas. The women made their relationship official last year in a TikTok video.

Fulwiley transferred from South Carolina and has helped the Tigers to a No. 2 seed while being named SEC Sixth Woman of the Year. Fulwiley’s girlfriend is JaMeesia Ford, a track and field athlete who competes for South Carolina in college sports. The two women formed a power couple in the South Carolina Gamecocks athletic department, each of them earning huge accolades for their athletic prowess.

Despite Fulwiley transferring to a rival SEC school, the two women are still going strong. “I’ve never really seen a couple that thrives like us,” Fulwiley told The State in South Carolina. “That’s what really made us want to go public.”
