Brandi Carlile showcases new album at Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center

The Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center, which is located next to the Stonewall Inn, welcomed music artist Brandi Carlile on Sept. 30 for an event that served as a benefit for the visitor center and a celebration of Carlile's recent album release. The evening featured a conversation with Carlile and photographer Collier Schorr, followed by an acoustic performance and an after-party at the Stonewall Inn. The event coincided with the September release of Carlile's album, "Returning to Myself (Sad Gay Version)." Carlile played her entire album, talked between songs, and drew applause from the audience. At one point, Rodriguez presented Carlile with a shovel with her name on it. Carlile's wife, Catherine, and their two children were among those in attendance, as well as leaders from both the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center and the Stonewall Inn, including Stonewall Inn co-owner Kurt Kelly and Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center co-founders Ann Marie Gothard and Diana Rodriguez. Filmmaker David France also joined the event, among others.
