Emma Corrin Is the Next Supervillain in ‘Deadpool 3’

The Emmy nominee, known for playing Princess Diana in the Netflix historical drama The Crown, is trading in their tiara for … a cape? Or whatever it is that villains in antihero movies wear.

That’s right! Corrin is rumored to be playing the lead baddie in Deadpool 3. Ryan Reynolds commented on the casting on Twitter and wrote, “New addition to the family! The Deadpool family, for clarity. Which is just like a real family except with less swearing… Welcome, Emma Corrin!” The post also included clashing sword emojis which may confirm the theory that their character and Deadpool will not be buddies.

Corrin also gushed about the new role and said, “beyond honored to join this bonkers family thank you so much for having me.”

This is not the only role Corrin is celebrating this week. The nonbinary actor also announced their involvement in Robert Eggers’ adaptation of the vampire movie Nosferatu. The classic goth film is packed with stars, including Lily Rose-Depp, Nicholas Hoult, and Bill Skarsgard.

Hugh Jackman Joins Deadpool 3

Fans of the Deadpool franchise were already buzzing about the film after news broke that Hugh Jackman will make his grand return as the adamantium-clawed Wolverine. Though Jackman previously said he had moved on from playing Logan, he is looking forward to this new chapter.

“When I keep thinking of me and Ryan, of Deadpool and Wolverine, which are classic comic-book rivals, there’s also a dynamic that I’ve never really got to do before as Wolverine,” he said on an episode of Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace. “I just thought, ‘This is gonna be fun. Something I’ve never done before. I can’t wait.'”

Shawn Levy – who worked with Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project – is taking over as director of the third installment. It is also worth noting that this is the first R-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe project. Let the chaos begin.
