First Look: Harvey Guillén, Billie Lourd, and Josh Brener Take a Wild Palm Springs Trip in ‘That Friend’

Fresh off its premiere at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival, That Friend has unveiled a new collection of stills offering a closer look at the comedy’s hilariously chaotic Palm Springs adventure.

The film follows Henry (Josh Brener), who plans a romantic trip to Palm Springs with his girlfriend Penny (Billie Lourd), hoping the desert getaway will bring them closer together. Armed with drug-laced cigarettes, a complete disregard for boundaries, and a talent for turning every situation into a spectacle, Paul transforms the relaxing Palm Springs escape into a weekend filled with outrageous antics, awkward moments, and plenty of laughs.

Alongside its leading trio, the film also stars Neil Brown Jr., Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Lauren Lapkus, Mary Holland, Rose Abdoo, Alok Vaid-Menon, Retta, Alan Peterson, Aisha Holden, Paul Guzman, and Will Sterling.

That Friend was written and directed by Alex Wall and Will Sterling, produced by Ryan Tillotson, and executive produced by Troy Hoffman, Stephen Markley, Levi Chambers, and Retta.
