GOP Texas State Rep Vows To Stop University’s LGBTQ Studies Minor: “Outrageous Tax-Funded Indoctrination”

A Texas A&M University (TAMU) program that allows students to minor in LGBT studies has caught the eye of one Texas lawmaker who said the university is “spending state resources” on “liberal indoctrination.”

State Rep. Brian Harrison (R-Midlothian) posted online about the undergraduate minor in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Studies, stating that he would “be demanding answers from TAMU.”

Harrison said he will be advocating for a “legislative fix” next session regarding this issue, but that “the leadership of Texas A&M should do the right thing for the people of Texas and terminate this program immediately.”

Harrison first appeared here in 2022 when he introduced a bill making it legal to use the HOV lane while pregnant because “unborn babies” constitute the required additional person. The owner of a dog breeding outfit called Dallas Labradoodles, Harrison coordinated the HHS response to COVID during the Trump administration. After being elected to the Texas legislature, he advocated against mask and vaccine mandates. As you can see below, GOP Rep. Chip Roy has waded in.
