The stars of Interview with the Vampire have teased new details about the forthcoming second season.
On 12 May, fans will finally be treated to new episodes of the beloved bloodsucking drama.
Picking up after the events of season one, Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and his pseudo-daughter Claudia (Delainey Hayes) head to Europe after they seemingly put an end to their maker, Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid).
While searching for other vampires, the two stumble upon the mysterious immortal acting troupe, Theatre des Vampires, which introduces them to a new and deadly way of life.
With May swiftly approaching, Anderson and Reid sat down with AMC to participate in a rapid-fire Q&A about Interview with the Vampire season two.
When asked if Lestat will be “just as feisty” in the new episodes, the Aussie actor coly responded, “I mean… yeah.”
The Game of Thrones star echoed similar sentiments, adding: “I can answer that as well. Yes… fierce”
When asked if viewers would be getting Lestat’s side of the story, Reid somewhat agreed but said that it wouldn’t necessarily be from his character’s point of view.
Towards the end of their Q&A session, the two talents confirmed that Armand’s (Assad Zaman) back story would be explored significantly in season two and that other characters from Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles would make cameos.
It didn’t take long for fans to flock to the comment section to praise Anderson and Reid’s chemistry-filled interview.
One viewer wrote: “I wonder if this version of Lestat is strictly according to Louis….as it was in the novel. This depiction of Lestat truly is a Brat Prince. I love this show I cannot wait for season 2 to splatter us with blood and pull us into its passionate embrace.”
Another fan commented: “These two are a match forged in heaven portraying a match forged in hell.”
The aforementioned Q&A video comes a few months after Anderson opened up about the main takeaways from Interview with the Vampire season two.
“The theme of season 2 is this idea of memory is a monster, and how memory and guilt can follow you around,” he explained.
“When we meet Claudia and Louis in season 2, they’re dealing with the psychological and literal repercussions of what they did together.”
“With Louis, you definitely get a sense there was some hesitance on his part – he didn’t really go through with it, he pulled back from the decision at the last minute, because he is very in love with this fellow monster.”
While the first season of Interview with the Vampire incorporated various changes to the source material – like setting the story in the early 1900s versus the late 1700s – it received universal acclaim from fans and critics, with many praising its tone, costumes, and the cast’s electric chemistry.
The show has also been lauded for embracing the queer elements of Rice’s novels by making Louis and Lestat full-on lovers.
