Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little is one of the most interesting players as we head into the NFL Playoffs.
He’s 22 but looks 16. He’s 6-1 and allegedly 172 pounds and yet he’s built like a stiff breeze would knock him over. He wanted to quit football the first time he got hit and focus on soccer. And yet he owns the NFL record by kicking a 68-yard field goal earlier this season, along with a 67-yarder in Week 18. He kicked a 70-yarder in the preseason, but that didn’t count. And he seems like a lot of fun.
Prior to Christmas, the Jaguars’ social media team asked players to sign old photos of themselves. They showed one of Little likely from his high school days and he immediately snatched it in mock horror. “Fun fact,” he said. “I had a skirt on in this originally and couldn’t wear it because the skirt was too small.”
He was then told there was a skirt but it was cropped out. “Was there a skirt? Was I actually wearing a skirt?” Little replied with more feigned shock. “Take it away!” he said. It was a cute moment and showed him as very likeable.

Little doesn’t need a skirt to dance and have a good time on the field, as he demonstrated Sunday after kicking his 67-yard field goal at the end of the first half. The best description I can come up with for his celebration is hopscotch dance. He also replicated the “calm down” gesture of one of his idols, soccer great Cristiano Ronaldo.
Little is a huge part of Jacksonville’s offense, since they basically only need to reach midfield before having a chance at three points. This from a player who remembers the bad feeling he had after being hit in his first high school game.
“I get to punt my first punt in the game,” Little said. “They snap it over my head and I get smacked. And so, two days after that, I’m like: ‘I’m good. I’m done with football.'”
He persevered and now looms as a key player as the Jaguars prepare for their playoff opener against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
