January LGBTQ+ event round-up

With 2025 in our rearview, it’s time to start this New Year off with a bang!  According to the Chinese Zodiac, and everyone on Instagram right now, it’s the year of the Fire Horse. Which means we are going for what we want in full force. What more could we desire than reigning in the first month of 2026 with a slew of exciting LGBTQ+ events? If you didn’t do quite as much partying as you might have hoped last year, never fear- we’ve compiled a few activities to fill up your January calendar.

Sin City Classic

The largest LGBTQ+ sporting event in the world

If you’re looking for an excuse to start the year off with a little bit of sin, head to Las Vegas for the world’s largest LGBTQ+ sporting event. Over 10,000 athletes are currently preparing to travel to Nevada for a weekend of competition, social events, parties, and anything else the City of Sin has to offer. Some of the fun includes drag bingo, cornhole for charity, live DJ dance sets, and obviously, tons of ball play (soccer balls!).

OUT in the Hills

Alan Cumming’s LGBTQ+ celebration

Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Port-Na-Craig, Pitlochry, PH16 5DR, IRE

LGBTQ+ icon Alan Cumming has created an event that any theater nerd would scream over. In the heart of the Scottish Highlands, hundreds of creatives are gathering to celebrate the magic of queer theater. Famous LGBTQ+ creators like Ian McKellen, Graham Norton, and Scottish poet/writer Jackie Kay are scheduled to attend and either perform or give insightful panel discussions. Additionally, there will be photography exhibits and new works of writing on display.
