Kansas AG Sues To End Trans Birth Certificate Changes

NBC News reports:

Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach has asked a federal judge to allow state officials to bar people from changing their birth certificates, a move aimed at enforcing a sweeping statewide anti-trans law that is due to go into effect next week. If the judge allows the request, people in Kansas would be barred from making such changes.

At a news conference Monday, Kobach announced his office’s formal legal guidance on enforcing parts of the new law.

He said the state’s permanent records of birth certificates and driver’s licenses would reflect a person’s gender at birth, regardless of whether that person had filed to change the gender on their birth certificate at any point before the new law goes into effect.

In 2018 Kobach lost his bid for Kansas governor after flaming out as the head of Trump’s so-called “voter fraud” commission.

Kobach’s campaign was funded in part by prominent white supremacists and anti-immigrant hate groups.

Last year he resigned from the board of Steve Bannon’s private border wall scam outfit and unlike others involved, he has somehow evaded prosecution.

That same day he appeared on Bannon’s show to compare Biden to Hitler. Then he complained that Republicans are being “demonized.”

On 1/23/17 Trump lied that 3-5 million undocumented immigrants had somehow been able to vote illegally, costing him the popular vote.

In 2018 his Kobach-fronted voter fraud commission disbanded, citing lack of evidence. He kept on repeating the lie.
