Pop superstar Mae Muller has opened up about her Eurovision 2023 journey after performing as the UK’s entry.
On 13 May, 26 countries returned to the Liverpool Arena to battle it out for the coveted first-place title and Eurovision trophy.
Due to Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, the UK hosted the highly anticipated competition on behalf of the European country – who took home the title with Kalush Orchestra’s single Stefania in 2022.
Throughout the evening, viewers were treated to an array of unique and iconic performances, including one from Muller – who delivered a sizzling performance of her breakup track I Wrote A Song.
While the young talent delivered incredible vocals, intricate choreography and an interactive set, she came in second to last place.
Shortly after the event ended, Muller took to Twitter to thank her fans for their support during the evening.
“I just want to say thank [you] x. I know I joke a lot, but we really put our all into the last few months, not the result we hoped for, but so proud of everyone & what we achieved on this journey,” she wrote. “Congrats to all the countries, I’ll never forget this journey, and I love you all.”

Muller’s reflective words regarding her grand final performance didn’t stop there.
On 14 May, the young talent took to Instagram with another inspiring message about her Eurovision appearance.
“What an experience ❤️ just wanted to say thank you for all your support over the last few months, it’s been overwhelming,” she wrote alongside a photo and video from the evening.
“Last night, we didn’t get the result we had hoped for, but I will remember the energy in that room forever!!! Can’t wait to see you all again soon, I had a fucking fabulous time.”
Muller’s recent statement comes a few weeks after she opened up to GAY TIMES about her hit single I Wrote A Song.
“I just wanted to write a song that felt a bit like, ‘I’m not feeling great, I don’t wanna feel rubbish anymore, and I wanna feel hot.’ It’s getting over those negative emotions and discovering how you can empower yourself,” she says.
Muller also expressed the importance of creating an infectious anthem that the LGBTQ+ community can embrace.
“I know that within the gay community, you’re either gonna love it or hate it. So, I’m very happy that it’s being loved right now,” she explained.
“The support that has been shown has been so nice, and I’ve always wanted my music and shows and everything I create to be a safe space. The fact that it’s resonating in that way makes me feel really good.”
