Now that Pride Month is over, straight people can have the next 11 months to themselves
Here's a look at the music and 'merriment' on offer at some MLB theme nights that aren't about Pride. The post Now that Pride Month is over, straight people can have the next 11 months to themselves appeared first on Outsports.

The straight world can breathe easy now that Pride Month is over, because the next 11 months go back to being Straight Month. Out with the rainbow colors and in with monochrome.
Pride Month is actually a misnomer, since in most cities it’s a two-day festival, leaving the other 363 days for the straights. In sports, with most baseball Pride Nights occurring in June during Pride Month, they tend to garner the most attention. Pride Nights are one-offs, meaning it’s one game out of 81 home games in Major League Baseball.
Yet that doesn’t stop the trolls on social media who whine, “Why isn’t there ever a Straight Night?” The comments go something like this (these are real social media posts):
—“Pride Night” is propaganda. When is “Christian Night”?
—I’m just so looking forward to straight night.
—Canceled my subscription to today when the Cubs announced their Pride night celebration. When is straight night?
—Why does any team have a “pride night”? If that just has to be, then why can’t we have a straight night? A Christian night?
—Having a gay pride night is forcing it on me. If theres not a womens night, or a mens night, or a kids night, or a straight night, or family night, or any other race or religion night, why is there gay pride night?

Replies to Durham Bulls Pride Night will make you cringe. The team’s response to those bigots will give you, and veterans, life.
Well, their prayers have been answered! Here are just some of the (mostly) straight-oriented theme nights on tap the rest of the summer at Major League Baseball parks.
Yacht Rock Night (Boston Red Sox)
From the promo: “Ahoy, Red Sox Nation! If you like baseball blended with the breezy, mellow vibes of the 70s and 80s, this is it! Don’t get caught missing Yacht Rock Night at Fenway Park on Tuesday, August 19. Come listen to the music and stay for the game. It’s the perfect summer escape!” How 1% of them.
Hunting and Fishing Night (Atlanta Braves)
From the promo: “‘Skulls, Skins, and Fish ID’ will feature mammal pelts and skulls, and fish replicas to discuss fish ID for common sportfish across the State.” Hard pass.
Country Music Night (Kansas City Royals)
From the promo: “Some Kansas Citians feel that two of the best things about summer are Royals baseball and Country Music!” The Royals are 6 games under .500 so the “best thing” claim is debatable.
Faith and Family Night (Arizona Diamondbacks)
From the promo: “Please join the Arizona Diamondbacks for a night of baseball, fellowship, and music.” The chef’s kiss is that it’s sponsored by Chick-fil-A.
Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day (Cleveland Guardians)
From the promo: “This Theme Night includes access to a special event in the Paul Davis Pennant District featuring an Irish-themed menu, bagpipes and drums, and performances from Irish dancers.” A more accurate promo: Come celebrate public drunkenness with 40,000 other fans.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Night (Seattle Mariners)
From the promo: “Where Faith and Baseball Come Together.” Counter-programming: “The Book of Mormon” musical.
Billy Joel Bobblehead Night (New York Yankees)
This might be the straightest promo this season.
Bravo Night at Fenway Park (Boston Red Sox)
From the promo: “Grab your glam squad and get ready for a night of drama, laughs, and unforgettable entertainment under the lights at Fenway Park! On Friday, August 1, we’re rolling out the red carpet for Bravo Night, featuring special appearances from some of your favorite Bravolebrities. Snag a VIP package and enjoy the ultimate Bravo experience: You’ll get the co-branded hat plus a limited-edition ‘Real Housewives of Fenway’ wine tumbler.”
Oh wait, this last one is actually gayer than most Pride Nights. Enjoy!
