The Chicago Sky honored a hometown hero by retiring Candace Parker‘s No. 3 in the rafters of the Wintrust Arena. The Sky became the latest WNBA team to pay homage to the GOAT, less than two months after the Los Angeles Sparks hung up their own No. 3 in the rafters of Crypto.com Arena.

Parker became the second WNBA player to have their jersey retired by two different organizations. She joins Lindsay Whalen, whose No. 13 is retired by the Minnesota Lynx and Connecticut Sun.

Having only played one season with the Sky, Parker focused more on the impact of her hometown. Parker led her Naperville Central High School Redhawks to two Illinois state titles while also winning the Gatorade Player of the Year twice. It was in a Chicago gym where Parker would become the first woman to dunk in high school.
