TNA star Indi Hartwell earns World title match at big upcoming event

Major pro wrestling promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling’s biggest event of the year, “Bound For Glory,” is just over a month away, but one of its most popular out LGBTQ stars has already punched her ticket to the show with gold in her sight.

TNA star Indi Hartwell will challenge for the TNA Knockouts World championship at “Bound For Glory” after defeating former TNA Knockouts World Tag Team champions Jody Threat and Dani Luna in a number-one contender match on Thursday’s episode of “TNA Impact.”

Hartwell scored the pin after trading pinning combinations with Threat, ultimately reversing a Jackknife pin into a sit-out pin for the three-count. Luna attacked both Hartwell and Threat after the match ended.

The result places Hartwell in her biggest match since signing with TNA in April. It marks her first challenge for the top women’s singles title in the company and her first title match overall during her time with TNA.

Hartwell is no stranger to pro wrestling gold. The Aussie held the NXT Women’s and NXT Women’s Tag Team championships during her four-year tenure with WWE between 2020-24. She currently holds multiple championships across several independent promotions in the U.S. and Australia, most notably the House of Glory Women’s championship.

While Hartwell’s spot is secured, the question of who she will face remains unanswered. Current TNA Knockouts World champion Ash By Elegance is set to face former champion Masha Slamovich at TNA’s “Victory Road” event on September 26.

Regardless of the opponent, Hartwell has a shot at more than gold. If she wins, Hartwell would become the second out LGBTQ pro wrestler to hold the TNA Knockouts World title alongside two-time champion Winter.

Hartwell will get her chance at championship accolades when TNA brings “Bound For Glory” to Lowell, Mass., next month on October 12, just a day after National Coming Out Day.
