[PHOTOS] World Pride was a melting pot of sexy solidarity

From political anger to uninhibited dancing, DC welcomed visitors from all around the world for a full weekend of celebration.

From political anger, activism, and support to uninhibited dancing, Washington, DC welcomed visitors from all around the world for a full weekend of celebration, authentic expression, and activism.

Having World Pride in the U.S. capital offered an opportunity to express and navigate what it means to be LGBTQ+ under the current political climate. The World Pride parade and the World Pride Music Festival were happening simultaneously, sharing similar intentions: liberation, freedom, and expression, but coming from completely different points of view.

For those seeking to fully let go and feel the freedom to dance wearing almost nothing, the World Pride Music Festival offered nonstop queer icons and music, with plenty of shirtless bodies and speedos blending and morphing to the multiple beats coming from all directions.

For 55 years, LA Pride has been rolling down the streets and we were there to capture this year’s looks.

DC’s Pride Parade served as a true illustration of community and support. Diverse attendees gathered and marched to voice their anger at the current threats to the LGBTQ+ community and to celebrate one another, from furries, buttcheeks, and leather to full displays of protest and political activism.

The parade served as a reminder that pride is ultimately a form of protest and a reminder of community, fellowship, resilience, and support.

Even though both events provided opportunities for people to exist in authentic expression, which is a form of activism in itself, the parade provided more direct opportunities for people (both marchers and attendees) to express their thoughts on the current administration.
