The Abbey in West Hollywood hosted a celebrity-studded party for National PrEP Day
Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Matt Bomer and Tom Daley were among those to attend.

The Abbey in West Hollywood, one of the most famous gay venues in the world, hosted one of its glitziest ever gatherings on Thursday evening. The occasion was a party to count down to the first-ever National PrEP Day (October 10). The initiative was created by telehealth company Mistr to promote the use of PrEP.

Hosting the event was Bob The Drag Queen. Attendees included Cardi B, Matt Bomer, Omar Apollo, Kim Petras, Demi Lovato, Todrick Hall, Tom Daley, Cynthia Bailey, Nene Leakes, Zane Phillips, TS Madison, Jake Jonez, Colton Haynes, Sam Asghari, Tamar Braxton, Colton Underwood, Cooper Koch, Jonathan Bennett, David Furnish, Bianca del Rio, Alyssa Edwards, Willam, among others.

Diplo DJ’ed at the event, while entertainment came from several drag acts performing Dua Lipa songs.
These were Symone (“Break My Heart”), Aquaria (“Physical”), Trinity the Tuck (“Training Season”), Shea Couleé (“Levitating”), and Plastique Tiara (“Dance the Night”).
After they’d done their songs, the night’s biggest surprise was unveiled: Dua Lipa herself joined them on stage for renditions of “New Rules”, “Don’t Start Now”, and “Houdini”. Naturally, when the British star appeared, the assembled crowd went wild.

Talking about her support for the event, Cardi B said, “Sexual health should be easy and zero shame. That’s why I’m rocking with MISTR & SISTR! Even if you don’t have insurance, it’s free! Safe, smart, and for the community.”

The history of The Abbey
Businessman David Cooley opened The Abbey opened in 1991 as a coffee store. It quickly acquired a liquor license, moved across the street from its first premises to take up a larger space, and expanded to include a neighboring nightclub.
Cooley sold The Abbey to its current owner, Tristan Schukraft, in 2023. Schukraft owns a large chunk of the commercial space on Fire Island and the Tryst chain of boutique, inclusive hotels. He also owns Mistr and its sister service, Sistr.

Commenting after last week’s party, Schukraft said, “Last night was glitter, drag, Dua Lipa, Diplo, and pure joy, and it was history. National PrEP Day is bigger than a party. It was community, sex positivity, and healthcare all in one room. When we come together without shame, we can save lives and finally put an end to HIV.”
West Hollywood was one of 15 cities where Mistr held events to mark its first National PrEP Day. It’s also opening storefronts in seven neighborhoods with large LGBTQ+ populations to offer the new twice-yearly PrEP injection: Yeztugo. These include West Hollywood, The Castro (San Francisco), Hell’s Kitchen (NYC), Wilton Manors (Florida), Northalsted (Chicago, Illinois), Oaklawn (Dallas, Texas), and Las Vegas (Nevada).
