Pro wrestling couple Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize arrive in AEW

Out pro wrestlers and real-life couple Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize are bringing their talents to All Elite Wrestling.

The pair made their on-screen debut for the promotion on Saturday’s edition of the company’s “AEW Collision” TV show, interrupting and challenging AEW stars Tay Melo and Anna Jay during a backstage interview.

Their arrival comes amid AEW introducing tag team championships for its women’s division earlier this month. A tournament to crown the first AEW Women’s World Tag Team champions is set for the coming weeks, though Newell and Alize’s debut came after the brackets for the tournament were already set. Melo and Jay are entrants in the tournament.

The moment marked big returns for both Newell and Alize. Newell, who previously wrestled for WWE as Tegan Nox for several years, hadn’t made a televised appearance on a pro wrestling program since being released by WWE in Nov. 2024.

Out pro wrestler Terra Calaway returns to the ring for her husband, her son and herself
Calaway will wrestle for the first time since Feb. 2023 at ‘CannonballFest,’ a benefit show for her husband’s fight against ALS, on Sunday.

It was more of a reunion for Alize. The “Lucha Baddie” wrestled multiple times on AEW and Ring of Honor programming dating back to 2021, with her last appearance coming in June 2023.

Alize built her name across various independent promotions over the last decade, notching appearances with TNA Wrestling and AAA during that period. She most notably wrestled current WWE star Roxanne Perez in the finals of the inaugural ROH Women’s World championship tournament in 2021.

Both have been most active in the Texas independent wrestling scene over the last year, with Newell challenging fellow out wrestler Abadon for the Metroplex Wrestling Women’s title earlier this month and Alize logging title matches in Hurricane Pro and Reality Of Wrestling. Newell added multiple matches in her home nation of Wales earlier in the year.

The couple also wrestled each other twice at a Hurricane Pro events earlier this year, including during Pride month.

No date for their AEW in-ring debut as a team has been set, but the increased focus on the women’s tag team division within AEW bodes well for the loving couple.
