From Joy to Joy Ride!

Everything Everywhere All At Once actress Stephanie Hsu appears in the trailer for a new comedy about four friends who embark on an international adventure. The Oscar-nominated actress stars alongside Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, and Sabrina Wu.

But this is not an ordinary trip to Asia. Audrey (Park) is determined to find her birth mother. Along for the journey is her longtime best friend Lolo (Cola), her college friend-turned-soap star (Hsu), and Lolo’s eccentric cousin Deadeye (Wu). As we can see from the trailer, the trip goes differently than planned. They somehow find themselves covered in cocaine and force

Though the film will premiere in theaters this summer, it has already landed a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Joy Ride slides comfortably into the tradition of hard-R road-trip movies while also demonstrating that American culture still has many areas to open up in terms of representation,” one critic wrote.

Crazy Rich Asians writer Adele Lim will direct while Seth Rogen’s production company, Point Grey Pictures, will produce. Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and Teresa Hsiao wrote the script.

“This journey began with me, Cherry, and Teresa wanting to tell a story with characters who look like us, about women who are messy and thirsty, but have so much heart,” Lim said in a statement.

“Point Grey and Lionsgate have been incredible allies and partners from day one, and I am thrilled to be making my directing debut with them on a story that’s so special to me.”
