Brian Sellers has been a San Francisco Giants fan since 1972. Let that lengthy time as a fan sink in: About 70% of Americans weren’t even born yet when Sellers became a fan of the Giants.
Yet as this straight man has watched the team’s complete mishandling of three pitchers defacing their Pride caps in front of the LGBTQ community at Pride Night, he felt compelled to tell the team what a “national embarrassment” they have become in his “Dear Giants letter.”
Sellers told Outsports he’d like to see the Giants trade or release the three proudly anti-gay players, or “have them make a donation, statement or maybe do public service in the LGBTQ community.”

He lives in Suisin City, about halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento, and said he gets to a couple Giants games per season now.
He did not hold back his feelings about the abandonment of the LGBTQ community the team has demonstrated for over two months.
Dear Giants,
I have been a fan of the Giants since I was a 7 year old boy in 1972. I swear I may have been the only Dave Rader fan around. Lots of cold nights at Candlestick and lots of awful seasons and teams.
When Edgar hit that home run in 2010 I was in shock realizing that my Giants were going to win the World Series!! Then to do it again in ’12 and ’14 — heaven.
I was at every parade. I have lost count of how many items of Giants merchandise and memorabilia I have PURCHASED and how many tickets.
So you can imagine how this hurts to say how I will no longer be making any purchases of any kind now or in the foreseeable future.
As a straight man I am very disappointed in what our idiotic pitchers did on Pride Night and even more disappointed in our joke of a manager (and front office) for allowing it. It was a national embarrassment for a team that is already an embarrassing team.
Our lack of indifference during the offseason with no improvement at all was already disappointing.
The team can buy a theater, has the real estate income coming in as well as the TV money but can’t spend money to compete with the Dodgers? Who cares if we have some large contracts, so do a lot of teams.
The statement of “we are going to be competitive” is a joke.
I am assuming that this will fall on deaf ears but I wanted to make my feelings known.
