Asking for a friend… and gay TikTok creator @javi_salsa11, who turned to the internet to inquire about their inner workings in a recent post. Buckle up, because he’s asking the important questions!

“Apparently, there’s something called the Gay Ski Week, and like, I’m sorry, I don’t understand how you can do ixt,” he explained in a video from Les 3 Vallées in France.

“As a top, you have no more energy after a ski day. Like, your legs are just dead. And as a bottom, you’re eating cheese and carbs all day … I haven’t seen a piece of fiber in this entire week. So, like, please, can someone explain to me, like is it worth going, and if so, how?”

LOL. Fair points! And there is a lot of cheese.

8 things we love about gay ski weeks
There is something special about the culture of gay ski weeks. In the queer community, there’s nothing else quite like it.

Thankfully, the gays swooped in quickly with some on-the-boots reporting.

“They’re great fun. Group skiing in the day and apres is what you make it — from a few drinks to partying into the night,” a user named Alex wrote in response. “And it doesn’t revolve around hookups — you’ll make some great friends.”

Indeed, community and chalet go hand-in-hand at all of our favorite gay ski week events, like Elevation Utah in Park City; Telluride’s annual gay ski week (which is hosted by Gus Kenworthy this year); and Europe’s biggest winter bash in the Alps, which attracts more than 2,000 visitors each year.

Although there were some hot takes.

“My guess is there isn’t too much skiing happening and not much eating either,” one commenter wrote. And, as another put it, “I’m sorry, if you’re too tired after a day on the piste, you can’t ski properly, or you are super unfit.” Oop!

To be fair, @javi_salsa11 knows his stuff. In another video, he hilariously roasted English-speaking visitors to the Alps for their botched pronunciations.

“[The] actual runs are called Biche, Chamois, Geai, [and] Reynard,” he explained. “What do they call it? B*tch, Camel, Gay, Fox.”

Of course, there’s only one way to really know what a gay ski week entails: Book the flight, grab the gear, and experience one for yourself!
