Just when we thought gay British diver Tom Daley couldn’t get any more adorable, he goes and busts out his knitting needles again.

On Saturday afternoon, during the women’s synchronized diving competition, Britain’s premiere competitive diving super-twink was seen in the stands purl stitching away at a red-hued knitting project.

“Come for the diving, stay for Tom Daley knitting,” @NBCOlympics posted on their Instagram story.

While the revelation that the 30-year-old uber-cute wunderkind may be new to international audiences, his quasi-Luddite hobby is well known within Olympian social circles. Tom initially took up knitting as a form of stress relief.

“I became obsessed, essentially,” the explained four time gold medalist during a recent interview. “With each project, I learned a new skill or a new technique or a new stitch. Then I started designing my own things, and then once I started that, I went to the Olympics and people saw that I knit. One thing led to another.”

Daley was also seen knitting during competitions of the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2021.

Tom’s precious knitting moment follows on the heels of another memorable Paris Olympic scene. One day earlier during the opening ceremony, Daley and his fellow Great Britain teammate Helen Glover reenacted the iconic “I’m the King of the world!” scene from the Oscar winning film Titanic.

Adding an additional layer of queer cuteness, Glover played the Leonardo DiCaprio role, while Daley channeled Kate Winslet. This 90’s pop culture pastiche was appropo in light of the fact that the ceremony closed with Celine Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’, the Academy Award winning anthem song performed by the French Canadian chanteuse for Titanic.

Its hard for Tom’s antics to not steal Saturday’s spotlight, but lets also give a shoutout to the real stars of the afternoon: China’s Yani Chang and Yiwen Chang, who snatched the gold for event.

And for another dose of Daley, be sure to peep him and his diving partner, Noah Willams, going for the gold in the men’s 10m synchronized diving.
