Former All Elite Wrestling Women’s World champion Nyla Rose can once again lay claim to pro wrestling gold and a spot among an exclusive community in British pro wrestling history.
On the same weekend that AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling held their co-promoted “Forbidden Door” pay-per-view event at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday, Rose defeated Nightshade to win the Pro Wrestling EVE championship at Saturday night’s “EVE x The World” event.
The match was a battle of powerhouses as both women tested their mettle and strength against one another for the majority of the match. After both scored near falls, the turning point came when Rose reversed an attempted Vader Bomb by Nightshade. The reversal wasn’t enough to get the three-count, but Rose followed it up with a Swanton Bomb off the top rope that secured the pinfall, counted by out AEW referee Aubrey Edwards.
Rose’s win makes her the first out trans woman and the fifth out LGBTQ pro wrestler (Charlie Morgan, Jetta, Piper Niven, Safire Reed) to hold the famed all-women’s UK-based promotion’s top title.

“The Native Beast” also joins Gisele Shaw and Commander Sterling as the only out trans pro wrestlers to hold a championship in a major British pro wrestling promotion.
This weekend’s events are just the latest in Rose’s groundbreaking presence in pro wrestling. Her signing with AEW in 2019 made her the first out trans woman to ever sign with a major pro wrestling promotion. Rose’s AEW Women’s World title win in Feb. 2020 and match against fellow out trans pro wrestler Max The Impaler on “AEW Dark: Elevation” in June 2022 marked additional historic firsts.
Rose and Nightshade expressed respect for one another on social media following the match, with Rose deeming the former champion as “already one of my toughest opponents yet.”
“Hold your head high, queen, you’re an amazing champion,” Rose continued. “Pro Wrestling EVE is lucky to have you! When you’re ready to dance again, I’ll be waiting.”
