Will Breanna Stewart and the Mist win an Unrivaled title in the league she built?

Breanna Stewart and the Mist have a real shot at winning the Unrivaled Playoffs championship, with Stewart a league co-founder. The post Will Breanna Stewart and the Mist win an Unrivaled title in the league she built? appeared first on Outsports.

Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier had a “crazy” idea that helped give birth to the Unvrivaled women’s pro basketball league.

What if American women playing basketball didn’t have to leave the United States to make money in the WNBA offseason? Stewart and Collier have over the last two years put their minds behind Unrivaled, which is about to enter its second Playoffs weekend.

While competing in Unrivaled, neither of them were able to win the league championship in season 1. Yet the players with the Mist are poised to possibly have a top-two seeding in the Unrivaled Playoffs this season, which would mean a bye in the first round.

It would also mean an easier shot for Stewart, one of the league co-founders, to grab that league title.

This season, Breanna Stewart is 7th in points scored in the Unrivaled league, with an average of 20.9 points per game.

She’s also 30th in 3-point percentage, something that WNBA legend Sue Bird razzed her about in her recent podcast.

Breanna Stewart and the Mist aim for Unrivaled title

Chelsea Gray, an out athlete in women’s basketball, is the league leader in points-per-game. She also won the 1-on-1 Unrivaled tournament. She competes for Team Rose, which is locked into a lower-seed Unrivaled seeding in the Playoffs.

Collier and her Lunar Owls team have been eliminated from the Unrivaled Playoffs. Though to be clear, Collier missed the entire season with an injury. So it’s up to just one of the two co-founders to win a league title this season (though even if the Lunar Owls won, would Collier get a ring?).

If the Mist and Breanna Stewart are able to grab that Unrivaled season championship from the other favorites — the Phantom and the Laces — it will surely mean something special for one of the league’s co-founders, and a 2025 Outsports Power 100 honoree, Breanna Stewart.
