The annual BeefDip bears festival took place in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, over the last week of January.
The event has been running since 2002 and has grown to become one of the biggest and best-known bear festivals in the world.

This year’s event was split between two resorts: Blue Chairs Resort earlier in the week, followed by Hotel Delfin. The nine-day festival featured over 20 different parties, with promoters flying in from New York City (Furball) and Spain (MadBear). Bearland Mexico also hosted some of the furry fun.
The Tryst Hotel hosted some of the activities, including drag brunches, as did the local nightclub, CC Slaughters. Another highlight was the annual sea cruise, which saw the bears set sail for an afternoon of fun on the waves.
“This is our second time doing BeefDip, but we’ve visited Puerto Vallarta many times; we were just at Bearadise in November,” said Christopher Conner (above), who was visiting from St Loius, Missouri. He recently penned a “paranormal romance” novel called I Fell In Love With A Mexican Vampire.
“My partner is Mexican, from Oaxaca. We are in the process of buying a condo here, so we hope to be around even more often. The gay community here in Puerto Vallarta is so warm, open, and friendly. We absolutely love it. We had the most fun at the themed parties and tried to dress up for every occasion!”
BeefDip formerly held events at the Mantamar Beach Resort. However, the two entities went their separate ways in 2023, and now Mantamar hosts its own Mantamar Bear Week over the same days at BeefDip. In fact, we sense lots of businesses in Puerto Vallarta want a bit of the ‘Bear Week’ action, which makes for more choice and options for all the bears who fly in for the duration – even if it can be confusing to know what’s an ‘official’ event.
