Crotch-altering scandal rocks international ski jumping and size queens rejoice

Competitors in sports always look for an edge, but what Norwegian ski jump coaches were suspended for takes it to a new level. The post Crotch-altering scandal rocks international ski jumping and size queens rejoice appeared first on Outsports.

The headline above is not hyperbole or click-bait. Two coaches and one technician with the Norwegian ski jumping program have been suspended for altering the crotch on ski jumping suits to gain a competitive edge during flight.

Matthew Futterman of the Athletic explains the advantage of the crotch in a ski jumping suit:

“At the 2025 Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, Norway, last March, the host nation won six ski jumping medals, three gold and three bronze, its best-ever performance at the event. The night before the final day of the championships, Magnus Brevig, the head coach of the Norwegian team, and Adrian Livelten, its suit technician, were caught on video inserting illegal non-elastic stitching into the crotch area of the suits of two star jumpers, including the reigning Olympic champion, Marius Lindvik, after the suits had already passed inspection.

“The stitches essentially served to make the crotch area of the suits larger, smoother and more aerodynamic, allowing the jumpers to fly farther than the competition. Thomas Lobben, the team’s assistant head coach at the time, was not on the video, but later confessed to being a part of the conspiracy, which also involved manipulating the suit of Johann André Forfang, who was part of the Norwegian mixed team that won gold at the world championships.”

Interviews with British athletes confirm what we all know — guys look and compare, and the bigger the better.

Basically, the Norwegians were size queens and it’s something very relatable to many gay men.

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation’s (FIS) ethics committee suspended the two coaches and the suit technician for 18 months, retroactive to last March when the incidents occurred. Forfang and Lindvik pleaded ignorance and the FIS let them off easy, with three-month penalties they accepted and served in August, a time when no one is ski jumping. They both are expected to compete in the Milan Winter Olympics next month.

There is video of the suits being altered, but alas there is no semi-clothed athlete in sight. The suits were altered at the world championships after they had passed inspection.

Lindvik is the reigning Olympic gold medalist in the large-hill jumping competition. Forfang won an individual silver and a team gold at the 2018 Olympics. Neither man is having a good season so far, with Forgang ranked 16th and Lindvik 18th. Maybe jumping in suits with smaller crotches is the reason why.
