Dancing With The Stars is a worldwide phenomenon that has taken country after country by storm. Poland is no different.
The format started with the British show “Strictly Come Dancing,” created by the BBC. Of course, when the show came to the United States it took on a whole other life at an entirely different level.
Now in Poland, “Dancing With The Stars” is this season featuring a same-sex couple of two women, which includes the “star” of the pair, Katarzyna Zillmann. After coming out publicly, Zillmann won a medal at the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games. And she did so for her country of Poland, which is not exactly known as a bastion of gay acceptance.
That hasn’t been lost on Zillmann, who shared a really beautiful post on social media around the dancing duo’s most recent appearance on Poland’s Dancing With The Stars.

“Life writes beautiful scripts,” Zillmann wrote in Polish on Instagram. “Years of intensive training have led me to the dance floor, where alongside an outstanding teacher I can find myself again and fall in love with dancing without limits.
“The energy that flows between our bodies is incredibly beautiful. Let’s not let her pass us by. What’s worse to hold back.
“This is what our humanity is all about.”
It’s really powerful to see an out LGBTQ athlete being so visible and so proud. Also, that the TV producers for “Dancing With The Stars” in Poland chose her, and also decided to have her dance with another woman, is also certainly commendable.
It will be interesting to see how well she does in the coming weeks. Can she win it all? We will all find out if this out LGBTQ Olympic athlete can also win on the dance floor.
The “Dancing With The Stars” show has leaned heavily into athletes over the years. Gay Olympian Jack Woolley was part of the show in Ireland earlier this year.
