Florida Man Fired After Trashing Starbucks Pride Flag

The Smoking Gun reports:

The man who tore a Pride flag off the wall of a Starbucks after throwing his tea on the gay rights symbol has been fired from his job and now acknowledges making “poor decisions that led to my rightful arrest and termination from my career.”

Tucker Kemp, 31, was busted in late-October following an incident at a Starbucks in St. Petersburg, Florida, not far from where he worked as a sales manager for the Dignity Memorial funeral home chain.

After Kemp was collared–and his arrest was first detailed in these pages–he was canned from Dignity Memorial, where he worked for more than a decade. Looking for new employment, he made a handwritten appeal to the judge handling his case, asking that he be allowed to travel outside the county in search for work.

St. Petersburg police say 31-year-old Tucker Alden Kemp, of Clearwater, was arrested Wednesday morning for damaging the wall and Pride flag at the Starbucks on the 900 block of 4th Street. According to the arrest affidavit, Kemp was offended by a Pride flag hanging on the wall of Starbucks and told the manager that the store should put up an American flag. Police say the manager told Kemp it was their policy to have the Pride flag displayed and that’s when Kemp allegedly threw tea on the flag, ripped it off the wall and put it in a trash can.

The Smoking Gun notes that Kemp has changed his Facebook name to “Patriott Tucker.” Married to a woman and a registered Republican, he lists his priorities as “1. God, 2. Family, 3. Business.” A trial date or plea deal is not mentioned in the latest report.
