His first date with a bisexual man was going so well… until this hellish twist ruined everything

In any discussion of which dating app is the most bananas, there’s no shortage of contenders. Grindr is chaos incarnate, Tinder is full of straight chicanery, and Hinge should change its name to Unhinged, because that’s what it’s giving. But Feeld? That thing is in a class all by itself.

Describing his recent experience on that particular platform, dancer Jack Connor Rowan classified Feeld as “the app that straight people treat like Grindr, and gay people treat like Tinder,” which is right on the money. You never know what you’re going to find on Feeld—and for Jack, what he found was nothing short of nightmare fuel.

When Jack matched with a bisexual man on the app, he was excited to see where things would go. And at first, everything seemed fine and dandy. They got along, had chemistry, and were throwing back wine while chatting at a nice clip…until Jack’s date revealed an interest in the Harry Potter franchise.

Proceed with caution.

While this might not be an immediate red flag to some, to those who are at all aware of author JK Rowling’s recent forays into high TERFdom, it’s usually a cause for concern and further questioning.

So when Jack’s date asked “what’s wrong with JK Rowling?” it gave Jack pause. Unless you’ve been living in a cave or have suffered a convenient bout of amnesia causing you to forget the past decade, Rowling has been on a violent and very public anti-trans mission for many years now, and even her most apolitical fans are aware of this.

But Jack’s Feeld date wasn’t. Or at least…he pretended he wasn’t.

When Jack started to talk about Rowling’s recent choices—such as her decision to fund anti-trans measures in the UK and sow harmful misinformation about trans women specifically—his date replied, “how is she a bad person? She’s like, a huge feminist.”

Oh boy. Sounds like someone hasn’t been apprised of the black mold scandal of 2024.

Jack explained the details, citing Rowling’s TERF views and her obsession with keeping trans women out of women’s sports. But his date wasn’t having it. “She does all those things for women,” he said. Meaning cis women. At that point, Jack realized “we are on opposite sides of history here.”

Then—somehow—the conversation turned an even darker corner when the date explained that he tries not to pay attention to “who [the media] says is bad.” He then uttered what is possibly the most insane sentence we’ve ever heard: “I mean, they tried to say that Hitler was bad.”

Wait—what? Surely we can all agree that Hitler was bad. When you look in the dictionary under “bad hideous ugly POS queefed out by Satan for the sole purpose of enacting evil,” it’s that guy’s picture. But apparently there are some queer people feel he’s been the victim of reputational damage!

Jack tried to argue with his date for a minute before realizing that this man was himself a victim of the black mold epidemic. But there was yet another twist to the tale when the date started claiming that AH “didn’t k*ll gay people.”

DUDE. It’s a matter of record! Where does this guy think we got the pink triangle symbol from?

Jack tried to tell him the truth: that not only were queer and trans people also sent to the camps, but that those who survived were immediately sent straight to jail after the war was over, because there were still anti-gay laws on the books in Germany well into the late 1960s.

His date responded by denying that any of this happened. “I’m a big fan of WWII,” he said, “and I would know if Hitler kil led gay people.”

Has ever a date gone so completely off the rails before? It’s hard to say. Obviously, at this point Jack f*cking booked it home and did not look back.

In the car, he reflected: “I just went on a date with a transphobic N*zi—and it was going really well!”

As cautionary tales go, this is one for the books. It’s also a crucial reminder that, even if you think you can look past a friend or date’s politics, it’s not going to be sustainable in the long run. No matter how well you agree on other things, eventually you’re going to have to get down to the facts. And if your date doesn’t support basic human rights, well, that’s a problem. A big one!

We’re pouring one out for Jack today. He’s been through the wringer, and it’s a miracle that he got out of that situation with his sanity intact.

As for the tale of the transphobic N*zi bisexual, we’ll be looking forward to the inevitable 6-part Netflix series dropping sometime in the next year or so.
