Kylie Minogue joined by sister Dannii for WorldPride extravaganza

Pop! Music! Emergency! During her headline set at the official opening party of WorldPride 2023, Kylie Minogue joined forces with her sister Dannii. (“Mother!” applies here, twice.)

After performing some of her most iconic hits, from Spinning Around to Slow and Can’t Get You Out of My Head, Kylie revealed a “little surprise” for the audience as her sister suddenly appeared behind a group of dancers – in a matching lace bodysuit, we should add. This is “camp” personified!

The Australian duo then closed the show with a duet of Kylie’s classic number-one anthem – and LGBTQ+ classic – All the Lovers, before embracing one another. It was the first time they shared a stage in eight years.

The surprise appearance from the Who Do You Love Now? hitmaker sent fans into meltdown mode, obviously, with one writing: “The way I fkn gagged. Still haven’t recovered.” (Same.)

Another wrote: “Emotions must be running high this afternoon cause I’ve just cried watching a video of Kylie and Dannii Minogue performing All the Lovers at World Pride.” (Also same.)

Kylie performed a 30-minute set to a crowd of over 20,000.

In a prior statement, the pop icon said: “I’m so excited about the atmosphere of World Pride. Having first performed at Sydney Mardi Gras in 1994, I know the energy and emotion within the crowd really is one of a kind. It’s such a communal and immersive experience and I can’t wait to be part of it again this year.”

The opening ceremony also featured performances from Charli XCX, Jessica Mauboy and Electric Fields, with additional performances from hosts Courtney Act and Jason Donovan.

On Saturday (25 February), the 45th Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade will return to Oxford Street and on Sunday (26 February), Kelly Rowland will headline the Domain Dance Party.

Incorporating Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Sydney WorldPride 2023 runs for 17 days from 17 February to 5 March 2023.
