Lauren Rowello reports for Philadelphia Gay News:
“It is more important than ever that we make sure everyone knows that Pennsylvania is a welcoming place,” said Anne Ryan, Deputy Secretary of Tourism for the Commonwealth.
Ryan noted that other states have turned their backs on LGBTQ+ people — including tourists, by eliminating funding and website content related to queer travel and pausing campaigns directed at attracting the queer community. But Pennsylvania, under the direction of Gov. Josh Shapiro — whom she called a fierce advocate — doubled down in visibility and support instead.
This year, Pennsylvania launched three concurrent campaigns aimed at welcoming LGBTQ+, Black, and Hispanic travelers. Those campaigns are based on her team’s research about what those groups of travelers tend to look for in destinations — including how they want to feel when they arrive.
The state’s “Sorry Not Sorry” campaign — which is meant to reach the queer community — invites LGBTQ+ people to bring their authenticity with them when they travel. It’s meant to make a statement, Ryan emphasized, that Pennsylvania isn’t going to apologize for inviting LGBTQ+ visitors. And she doesn’t want LGBTQ+ people to hide who they are when they get to the state.

To every LGBTQ+ visitor coming to Pennsylvania: know that you have a place here in our Commonwealth.
And we’re not sorry.
