Get ready, LGBTQ+ movie enthusiasts: the upcoming queer thriller Saltburn is headed to cinemas very soon.
Back in 2022, Deadline announced that the director behind Promising Young Woman, Emerald Fennell, was partnering up with Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi and Eternals star Barry Keoghan for the new film.
Described as a “story of obsession,” Saltburn is set to follow Oliver Quick (Keoghan), an Oxford student on a mission of self-discovery in the early 2000s.
While attending the prestigious university, he meets the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton (Elordi), “who invites him to Saltburn, his eccentric family’s sprawling estate, for a summer never to be forgotten.”
Carey Mulligan, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver, and Archie Madekwe are also set to star in the film.
While additional plot details about Saltburn have been kept under wraps, the film’s distributors – Amazon Studios and MGM – have recently announced its highly anticipated release schedule.
According to Variety, the project will premiere at the 67th BFI London Film Festival – which starts on 4 October – as the event’s opening film.
At the same time, preview screenings for the movie will be held in cinemas across the UK before its wide release on 24 November and 1 December in the US.

In a statement, Fennell expressed her excitement over the film’s BFI London Film Festival placement.
“I’m honoured that our film is able to open this year’s BFI London film Festival. It is a festival that inspired me so much growing up, one that I followed excitedly from my bedroom on the other side of London,” she said.
“It feels extra-special that Saltburn, this very British tale of excess, is able to make its international debut at the wonderful BFI.”
BFI London Film Festival boss Kristy Matheson echoed similar sentiments in her own statement while also giving insight into why Saltburn was chosen to kick off the annual event.
“As soon as the credits rolled on Saltburn it was clear we’d met our Opening Night film. Academy Award winner Emerald Fennell returns with an expertly crafted and exhilarating thrill ride of a film that showcases an enormous depth of UK talents in front of and behind the camera,” she said.
“With its exceptional performances, delicious plot twists and a soundtrack of early 21st-century pop bangers; this hugely ambitious film immediately stole our hearts.”
Alongside its release schedule, Amazon Studios and MGM released two first-look images, which feature the film’s titular estate. Check them out below.
