Pride Month is upon us, and most cities across the United States are celebrating LGBTQ Pride with a parade and a festival during June, featuring Pride Grand Marshals.

While some cities — like Palm Springs and Atlanta — annually choose a later-in-the-year date for Pride (ummmm… it’s hella hot in June!), by now we mostly know who is celebrating whom.

While every Grand Marshal is deserving in some way, I can’t help but wish sports figures and LGBTQ athletes were more prominently featured as Pride Grand Marshals.
