The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said on May 26, a Mandeville-area woman called the sheriff to report that her LGBTQ flag was stolen from outside her house and burned in the middle of the roadway at the intersection of Soult Drive and Preval Drive.
The sheriff said detectives arrested two 15-year-olds and one 14-year-old after video showed the teens burning the flag while making derogatory remarks.
The teens were released to their parents after agreeing to appear in court on charges of theft less than $1,000, simple criminal damage, and hate crimes.
