This nightclub dancer spills the inside secrets of gay Puerto Vallarta

Amaya moved from Mexico City to the beach getaway, Puerto Vallarta, two years ago. Today, his gig is dancing in bars, clubs, and hotels in Zona Romantica. 

We convinced him to tell us the secrets to a great trip to the international queer hotspot.

Where do you bar hop when you go out with your friends, and in what order? 

The first thing you must do with your friends is make a toast. And a good option for this could be the Corner Bar or Margaritas that is almost in front of Industry. So you can make the party begin. 

You can then go to Industry, but it would mostly be in the bar portion. Then we just wait for the nightclub section, where you can see me dancing. 

Who is the best drag queen in the city?

I’m in love with Peaches because of her attitude. She’s so bitchy, and that’s why I like her. 

Which hotel do you suggest for out-of-town friends?

I always tell my friends the Tryst. Because, you know, it’s a hotel where you can be who you are, no one’s going to judge you. 

I mean, all the hotels say a lot that they’re “gay-friendly”. But Tryst is the most gay in the area.

What is your favorite food, and where do you get it?

My favorite food is seafood. And I always go to Daiquiri Dick’s.

Where do you shop? 

Always go to the La Isla Mall. You can find many things there, including Galerías Puerto Vallarta.

What’s the best part about the nightlife in PV?

Puerto Vallarta is a city that never sleeps. And it can be fun. You can always find something to do.
