Over the weekend, San Francisco celebrated its iconic gay enclave with the return of the Castro Street Fair. While the city is notorious for public events like Dore and Folsom reveling in radical sexuality, the comparably more wholesome gayborhood block party that is CST instead focuses on SF’s queer enclave. Founded in 1974 by trailblazing gay politician and activist Harvey Milk, Castro Street Fair strived to promote gay-owned businesses and embrace the unique character of its eponymous neighborhood.
