Tulsi Gabbard’s Tr*mp trouble gets even worse after big brother stranger danger bombshell

This May, Tulsi Gabbard went the way of all Tr*mp picks and resigned her high-profile job as Director of National Intelligence. But like her fellow ex-Tr*mp appointee Kristi Noem, the drama is now following her into the personal realm.
Over the weekend, news broke that Gabbard’s older brother Batarti was arrested for attempting to lure children—one of them a nine-year-old boy—into his Waikiki hotel room with promises of chewing gum and money. Gabbard has been formally charged with “custodial interference” and is receiving psychiatric help.
It’s bad news for Tulsi Gabbard, who cited her husband’s bone cancer as the reason for stepping away from her role in the Tr*mp administration. She obviously isn’t her brother’s keeper, and the stranger danger incident is just one in a reported string of erratic, dangerous decisions Batarti has made in the past few years as his mental health continues to decline.

Batarti Gabbard, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder previous to the incident, is the oldest child of Hawaii State Senator Mike Gabbard and his wife Carol, who have long been tied to a mysterious organization called “Science of Identity Foundation,” or SIF, run by a “guru” named Chris Butler.
Allegiance to SIF was a Gabbard family affair from the start. Mike and Carol threw in their lot with Butler when they first moved to Hawaii in the 1980s. Even after Mike stopped working for Butler, he used his relationship to SIF to launch a career in politics. In the early 1990s, a teenaged Tulsi filmed a TV ad claiming that same sex marriage would lead to people “marrying their dogs.”
Gabbard has stepped back from that anti-gay claim since, but she maintains a loose relationship to the truth that plays right into Tr*mp’s agenda. Her relationship with Tr*mp in her previous White House role seemed to mirror her relationship with Butler, in that she showed up ready and willing to do whatever it took to transform the truth into something closer in line with Tr*mp’s own sense of reality. Case in point: Gabbard’s role in this year’s federal probe of Tr*mp’s claims about the “stolen” 2020 election.
Despite Gabbard’s vaunted position, she showed up in Georgia this January to personally oversee the seach of the Fulton County elections office, where Tr*mp claims fraud took place. In a now-infamous WTF moment, Gabbard put her personal phone call with Tr*mp on speakerphone so he could tell FBI agents what a great job they were doing.
But even humoring Tr*mp’s conspiracy theories about Georgia didn’t help Gabbard hold on to her job, and now, Georgia is becoming an even bigger source of controversy in the White House. After last week’s falsehood-riddled speech about the 2020 election and larger fears around Tr*mp’s attempts to undermine Georgia’s democratic powerhouse team of Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, the full picture is slowly starting to emerge.
Whether Gabbard left fully of her own accord or was convinced to leave, she’s well out of the mess. But whatever happens in Georgia during the coming midterm cycle is likely going to come back to bite her.
