New study reveals the cities with the most tops and bottoms

Cruising website Squirt has just published its end-of-year roundup of its users’ likes and dislikes.
If you’re not familiar with Squirt, it’s a hookup ite designed exclusively for gay and bisexual men. It’s a website, not an app, and its content means it probably wouldn’t be stocked on any app store. It offers chatrooms and forums that identify local cruising grounds. This includes both commercial venues and open-air spaces.
In its 2025 roundup, besides highlighting popular culture (Charlie Hunnam is ‘Hottie of the Year’ and Lady Gaga still reigns supreme as a queer pop icon), Squirt also looks at the geographical locations where you can find the most tops and bottoms and other cruising action.
Given Squirt’s popularity in certain parts of the world, the results are skewed toward North America, Europe and Australia.

“For me, Sydney’s nightlife has always been inextricably linked to its bathhouses,” says a local, 30-something gay guy who spoke to GayCities anonymously. “My first ever sauna was 357 in my late teens with my boyfriend at the time, then I would regularly go to saunas like Bodyline (now called Sauna X) and Sydney Sauna after nights out, as well as Aarows in western Sydney. For cruising, Sydney Park in Alexandria is popular, and I’ve loved the clothing-optional cruising beaches of Obelisk and Lady Jane.”

Seeking some versatile action in the Big Apple? GayCities recommends East Side Club bathhouse , cruising at Eagle NYC or Ty’s on Christopher Street.
“New York offers the most diverse topography for sex,” says Leo Herrera, the author of ‘(analog) Cruising‘. “Street cruising doesn’t get any better than Manhattan. You can stroll through Central Park, pop by the sauna on the East Side, hit a pheromone party in the East Village, or one of the last video stores and notorious afternoon sex parties in Midtown.
“Queens and Brooklyn host many sex dungeons, and it seems like almost every party has a darkroom now,” Herrera adds.

Seeking cruising action in Chicago? Head for Steamworks bathhouse, or bars such as Jackhammer and Cell Block.

“For bathhouses, Steamworks in Church and Wellesley, and then there’s Spa Excess is a couple of blocks away,” a Toronto resident told GayCities when asked about places to find men.
“There’s also Splash, which is west of the village. For cruise bars, people go to Woody’s. The Black Eagle is also popular. It has a main bar and dancefloor, and then upstairs there’s a patio and a little maze area. And there’s Anvil, which is a cruising club. The main outdoor place for cruising is Cawthra Park, or Humber Bay West Park. In the summer, you’ve also got Hanlan’s Point, a clothing-optional beach, and the Cherry Beach area.”
Finally, Squirt also revealed when guys are most active online. It seems you need a serotonin boost to kick-start the week, because Mondays are the busiest time.
